27

Yes, 27!  They retrieved 27 eggs!  Last time, they only retrieved 15, which is still good, I know, but given my overstimming history, I was feeling a little disappointed...and after all, last time, we ended up transferring 2 embryos based on the RE's recommendation, because they were not super-high quality, and we didn't have any that survived to freeze.  So, here's hoping this numbers game goes a little better, since we're starting with almost twice as many eggs.  We'll get the fertilization report tomorrow.

I knew I was feeling much more sick that I was feeling last time.  My E2 was also almost double what it was last time, and I've definitely been feeling nauseous and getting heartburn all week, not to mention feeling the ovaries knocking.  I guess, now we know why.

They used a Lupron trigger for me this time, which can also be helpful in preventing OHSS.  While Lupron is used to suppress Oing prematurely, it also induces an initial LH surge, which leads to O.  They had me come in for b/w yesterday to confirm the LH surge, so they know the Lupron trigger worked.  Of course, they do the ER right before O.

With a Lupron trigger, they also do an HCG shot right after ER, and that is supposed to help with the lining.  The RE said my lining looked great, but because they retrieved so many eggs, they didn't do the HCG shot, as that can induce OHSS.  So, the bad news is that instead of progesterone suppositories, I have to have the progesterone shots, intramuscular, every night...till we test negatively, or until 6 weeks pregnant.  Boo!

I'm not in too much pain now.  I don't think I'll be needing the Vicodin they gave me.  I didn't last time, either.  I've got quite a headache, and I'm crampy and still nauseous, but that's to be expected.  In the meantime, I'm slamming some Gatorade and eating protein to help prevent OHSS.  I definitely don't want OHSS to prevent our transfer!
